COMMON QUESTIONS AND ADVICE
Planning & installation
What base or ground preparation does a Hot Tub need?
There are a number of options for preparing a space for your Hot Tub. We have installed on areas of crushed stone whihc has been levelled up using a whacker plate to firm the stone up for a protective layer. You can also install your Hot Tub on paving slabs as long as the base is solid and level. It is also common to install a Hot Tub on the decking as long as the underside of the wooden veranda has a solid foundation. We can adise you on your options based on individual site conditions.
How long does it take to install a hot tub?
It normally takes about 6 to 8 hours to install a Hot Tub.
Can you put Hot Tubs in the ground?
It’s not really advisable to put Hot Tubs in the ground. However you can build around them with a raised deck or, if your garden slopes away, you could build it into the slope and then build a deck around the Hot Tub providing you have adequate access to all of the pumps and heaters.
Can you put Hot Tubs on grass?
It’s not advisable to put your Hot Tubs on grass. We have seen installations on grass using a thick rubber mat under the Tub itself. Although in theory this may work, in reality use of the Hot Tub results in the mat getting wet, the grass and soil soaking up excess water and in some case the Hot Tub starting to sink into the ground.
Do I need planning permission for a Hot Tub?
No. You do not need planning permission for a hot tub. They are portable and when you move house you take them with you.

How much does it cost to run a Hot Tub?
A lot depends on what Hot Tub you purchase.
A Hot Tub from Alzach typically costs about £40 per month, this figure is based on a tub that sits between six and eight people.
How much water does a Hot Tub use?
Depending on the size of the hot tub you purchase, the amount of water ranges from 525 L to 2325 L (ranging from the smallest to the largest Hot Tubs we have to offer)
What chemicals do I need for my Hot Tub?
All hot tubs use either chlorine or bromine to sanitise the water. We use pH plus and pH minus to adjust the pH levels and sodium bicarbonate to adjust the alkalinity in the water. Depending on the area you live you might have to have some calcium added to the water to compensate for the difference in levels of calcium found across different locations.
